Mission Statement

To assist the public and to direct and encourage quality community development in accordance with adopted policies, codes, and laws, which enhances the City, protects the environment and makes the City a better place to live.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Planning and Zoning division is part of the City’s Economic Development Department and is responsible for current and long-range planning activities that guide the orderly growth and development within the City of Hapeville. These planning activities are performed through the implementation of the Zoning Ordinance along with shaping growth and redevelopment to meet the city’s Comprehensive Plan. This division prepares and presents recommendations that ensure compliance with the Zoning Ordinance and the Comprehensive Plan in partnership with various boards and commissions to achieve a livable city while balancing the needs of residents and businesses.
