[ARCHIVED] Google Delays Decision for Fiber Network Build-out in Metro Atlanta Area

Google has delayed their decision timeline regarding build-out of a fiber network in the metro Atlanta market. Google originally set a goal date to determine an infrastructure plan and decision by the end of 2014.

This delay is a decision driven by an overall macro level set of issues regarding nationwide planning. Google continues their analysis of a massive construction effort for a Fiber Network build out. The City of Hapeville and Google are still working together, as are Google and all of the other nationwide 34 cities, including all of those in the metro Atlanta market.

Google expects to make a decision on the metro Atlanta area market by first quarter of 2015. To stay up-to-date on Google Fiber expansion plans, visit: https://fiber.google.com/newcities/ and sign-up to be e-mailed updates.
